How Cross-Border Payments Work

1. Approve USDC: Before sending, approve the CBPR contract to spend your USDC (one-time ERC-20 allowance).

2. Initiate Payment: Enter recipient address, amount, corridor, and a reference/memo. The CBPR contract locks the USDC in escrow.

3. Compliance Check: The contract verifies both sender and recipient are KYC-verified via IdentityRegistry before releasing funds.

4. Settlement: Once confirmed, USDC is transferred from escrow to the recipient. Transaction is recorded on-chain with a unique txId.

Fiat note: This demo uses MockUSDC (testnet token). In production, real USDC flows via Circle's on-chain issuance. Fiat on/off ramps happen through regulated banking partners (SEPA for EUR, ACH for USD) that mint/burn USDC at 1:1.

How the Yield Vault Works (ERC-4626)

Deposit: You deposit USDC into the vault. The vault mints shares (yield-bearing tokens) and sends them to your wallet. 1 share ≈ 1 USDC at start. Shares represent your ownership stake in the vault's assets.

Yield Accrual: The YieldDistributionEngine invests vault assets and distributes yield. As yield accumulates, the NAV (value per share) increases. Your shares don't change — their value increases.

Withdraw: Burn your shares to get back your principal + accrued yield. The vault calculates how much USDC you're owed based on the current NAV. Example: if NAV = $102 and you have 100 shares, you get back 100 × $102 = $10,200 USDC.

Fiat flow: In production, fiat enters via bank transfer (SEPA/ACH) → regulated custodian mints real USDC → USDC flows into the vault. When you withdraw, vault burns shares → releases USDC → custodian burns USDC → releases fiat to your bank account. The blockchain layer handles shares and NAV; fiat moves through traditional banking rails.
